Vocal Ensembles

 

Ensembles first edition

Concert Choir

The IWCC Concert Choir consists of 60-70 students and is selected through an audition process. The Concert Choir sings a variety of literature from classical, secular and sacred selections. Scholarships are available for music and non-music majors who perform in this ensemble.

First Edition

The IWCC Show Choir “First Edition” consists of 30-40 singers that are energized by a back-up combo, singing and dancing various styles of music, including pop, musical theater and jazz. The “First Edition” is a great opportunity for community service, as we perform at many area schools and community functions. Scholarships are available for music and non-music majors who perform in this ensemble.

Women’s Ensemble

The Women’s Ensemble consists of 8 to 16 women selected through an audition process. The Women’s Ensemble sings music ranging from sacred to popular music. The women sing for many community functions becoming a great ambassador for Iowa Western Community College. Scholarships are sometimes available for music and non-music majors who perform in this ensemble.

Men’s Ensemble

The men’s ensemble consists of 8 to 16 men selected through an audition process. The Men’s Ensemble sings music ranging from sacred to popular music. The men sing for many community functions becoming a great ambassador for Iowa Western Community College. Scholarships are sometimes available for music and non-music majors who perform in this ensemble.

Jazz Choir

Jazz Choir consists of 8 to 16 singers that are selected through auditions in the fall. The Jazz Choir sings jazz music that is accompanied and/or acappella. The Jazz Choir sing for many community functions becoming a great ambassador for Iowa Western Community College in the spring semester. Scholarships are sometimes available for music and non-music majors who perform in this ensemble.

Instrumental Ensembles

Ensembles band

Easily one of the most visible organizations on campus the Iowa Western Community College Reiver Marching Band! and Color Guard (flag squad) performs at all home football games and at many campus and community events.The IWCCRMB!strives to be an enthusiastic and energetic musical addition to the game day environment. After the marching season is over Color Guard members are encouraged to join the award winning Reiver Winter Color Guard and compete in local and regional competitions. Scholarships are available for music and non-music majors who perform in this ensemble.

Reiver Pep Band

The Reiver Pep Band is appreciated by sports fans, teams, referees and music lovers alike. Known for their renditions of classic rock and funk tunes, the band livens up the atmosphere at every home basketball game in Kanesville Arena. Scholarships are available for music and non-music majors who perform in this ensemble.

Student Concert Band

Building on the proud tradition of the Iowa Western Community Concert Band, the Student Concert Band was created as a new opportunity for Iowa Western students to perform fun but engaging concert band literature. This ensemble currently meets in the Spring Semester only. Scholarships are available for music and non-music majors who perform in this ensemble.

Jazz Band

The IWCC jazz ensemble is an eighteen member group selected by audition. Scholarships are available for music and non-music majors who perform in this ensemble. Students share a desire to learn more about jazz style, performance practice and history. Jazz literature showcasing music of the finest jazz composers and arrangers is studied in 3-4 rehearsals per week. The ensemble has won awards at jazz festivals, opened for Kurt Elling and traveled to New York and Toronto for conferences.

Small Group

The Iowa Western Instrumental Program offers several opportunities to perform in smaller groups lead by Music Department Faculty. These ensembles include but are not limited to: Flute Choir, Percussion Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Low Brass Ensemble, Trombone Quartet, and Clarinet Ensemble.
