Sport Sciences - Athletic Training
Duties and Responsibilities:
Certified athletic trainers are health care professionals who specialize in preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical activity. As part of a complete health care team, the certified athletic trainer works under the direction of a licensed physician and in cooperation with other health care professionals, athletics administrators, coaches and parents.
Program Mission Statement:
The athletic training program will produce an experience for each student athletic trainer to develop the skills necessary to continue their academic career and become a Certified Athletic Trainer. This experience will be accomplished by assisting the student-athlete in physical and psychological restoration of injury through education and medical treatment.
The athletic training room is a 2500 sq. ft. facility located within the Kanesville building which opened in October 2008. It includes treatment and rehabilitation areas, taping and bracing tables, and a hydrotherapy room.
