About the Program
Few professions are as rewarding as that of physician assistant. Iowa Western's Pre-Physician Assistant program is an important first step toward entering this exciting field. This two-year program culminates with the awarding of an Associate of Science degree.
Physician assistants support physicians by providing a variety of health care services, including taking medical history, examining patients, ordering lab tests and interpreting results, making preliminary diagnoses, and treating minor injuries.
This program is designed to transfer by applying your Associate of Science degree toward a bachelor’s degree. All of your credits will transfer to similar programs at other institutions. The demand for physician assistants is high, particularly in rural and inner-city areas. Many area clinics and hospitals hire Iowa Western graduates.
The Pre-Physician Assistant program is designed for students intending to transfer on to a four-year institution. In order to become a physician assistant, students must earn a bachelor’s degree or higher. Physician assistants provide a variety of health care services under the supervision of a physician.
* Salaries reflect completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher.
