What makes this program unique compared to other Dental Assistant programs?
 

A:

The Dental Assistant program is very hands-on, and the small class sizes allow for one-on-one interaction with the instructor. In addition, students perform their clinical at Creighton Dental School.

Is this program accredited?
 

A:

The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), and specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation and the United States Department of Education.

What are Dental Assistant classes like?
 

A:

Students generally spend half of their time in the classroom and the other half in clinical. The classes are only offered during the day and typically last from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. every day.

What are the admissions requirements for this program?
 

A:

All Iowa Western students are required to submit an Application for Admission, complete placement testing, and submit official copies of high school and college transcripts. In addition to the college admission requirements, the Dental Assistant program also requires students to meet some additional admissions criteria. Q:

What classes should I take in high school to prepare for this program?
 

A:

Math and Science classes, Medical Terminology, and foreign language courses are very helpful. In addition to these classes, it is highly recommended that students shadow or complete observation hours in a Dental Office.
