What are the admissions requirements for this program?
All Iowa Western students are required to submit an Application for Admission, complete placement testing, and submit official copies of high school and college transcripts. In addition to the college admission requirements, the Design Technology program also requires students to meet some additional admissions criteria. To view or print the eligibility requirements for this program, visit our Additional Requirements page.
What makes this program unique?
Through a partnership with Siemens, students in this program will learn how to use Siemens Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software to design 3D virtual products before going to production. Only a handful of other colleges offer a program like this, and Iowa Western is the one and only community college in the country using the PLM software. Students in this program will have the opportunity to apply for internships with large regional companies such as Kiewit, Rockwell Collins, and Winnebago.
Will internships be paid?
Yes. Students will seek out their own internship opportunities, but several companies have already agreed to hire our students for internships, including Kiewit, Rockwell Collins, and Winnebago.
