Life at Iowa Western

We know that beyond the classroom students need to charge their batteries. Relax by a fireplace, toss a frisbee around a championship disc golf course, see a live musical performance, play flag football, or watch live national-championship-caliber athletic events. The Student Center

Home to the Galley, Cyber Library, Student Life Center, College Store, and Student Support Services, the Student Center serves as the hub for Iowa Western student life. Every day, you’ll see the Student Center busy with students who want to relax, have a snack, play a game, or get some help with their math class.

Join a club, attend athletics events, and chill out in the Student Life Center. At Iowa Wstern the Office of Student Life is committed to making college fun and engaging by hosting multiple activities for you to attend at no cost. Some of our most popular annual activities are the Comedian, the Hypnotist, the Volunteer Fair and Casino Night. At Iowa Western you’ll have the opportunity to serve the community, meet new people, develop ideas and have fun all the while.

Housing

Each year, more than 1,200 students choose to live in one of our three on-campus housing options. Living on campus is an important part of the college experience and a great way to meet new people. At Iowa Western, campus housing isn’t just a place to sleep and study; it truly is a community that students are happy to call home.

Tell your mom not to worry; the Office of Residence Life offers programming and services designed to ease the transition from high school to college, and we go out of our way to keep our students safe and secure.

Being a Reiver fanatic takes some preparation: 1. Get new Reiver Gear at the College Store. 2. Prepare the tailgating equipment. 3. Stock up on body paint, foam fingers, and eye patches. 4. Mark your calendars for every home game.

The Arts Center

On the Iowa Western campus we’ve built the premier arts facility in southwest Iowa, boasting a 667 seat performance theatre with two balconies, black box theatre, private practice rooms, make-up rooms, a custom costume shop, and scenic art classrooms. Students from all areas of campus are invited to participate in vocal and instrumental ensembles, student theatre productions, and numerous performances and competitions. Scholarships available for majors and non-majors. Show us your talent.

Whether your passion is art, music or theater, you’ll get a chance to learn and perform with excellent talent and experience first-hand what lies ahead for you in the fine arts.
