Baker

Qualifications:

JOB SUMMARY:              

Responsible for the production of bakery goods

DUTIES:                              

  1. Enforce the guidelines, policies, and procedures set by the Food Service Department
  2. Practice great customer service to ensure all food service guests have a memorable experience
  3. Accountable for the quality and quantity of baked goods produced
  4. Responsible for the safety, sanitation and cleanliness of the bakery production area
  5. Responsible for the production of breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and catering items that are posted in the daily menus and catering submissions on a daily/weekly rotation
  6. Accountable for the timely preparation of each catered item that leaves the bakery department
  7. Responsible for the daily production of baked goods to be sold in the Pirate Cove
  8. In charge of inventory of all baked goods and reporting what is needed to the area manager
  9. Responsible for the plating and service of bakery items for all meal/catering services
  10. Accountable for the presentation of all baked goods that are used for catering events and meal services
  11. Ensuring that FIFO is being implemented in the bakery at all times
  12. Accountable for the proper storage and handling of all ingredients and inventory in the bakery station belonging to Food Service
  13. 13.Assisting with menu development and cost controls
  14. 14.Ability to quickly convert and quantify recipes as needed without interruption of production
  15. Professionally work alongside the Culinary Arts department in order to maintain strong working relationships
  16. Participate in meetings, workshops, conferences and other industry-related events as assigned by the Food Service Manager for professional development
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service department

EDUCATION:

1.High school diploma or GED

2.Post-Secondary education preferred

EXPERIENCE:                 

1.Two to five years’ experience in a baking environment

2.Ability to work alone efficiently to achieve the daily workload

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1.Skills to compute portions and extend recipes

2.Ability to work alone efficiently to achieve the required daily tasks

3.Ability to work professionally directly alongside staff and students

4.Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds

HOURS:

Monday – Friday                                

4:00 AM to 12:30 PM (Hours are firm)               

Additional hours could be incurred due to weekend shifts, catering functions, college activities, etc.
