Accounting Technician

About the Program

If you are computer savvy and have the skills it takes to get an office in working order, jumpstart your career with Iowa Western’s Accounting Technician program. The one-year diploma program prepares students for entry-level accounting technician jobs, including financial recordkeeping, accounts payable, and accounts receivable positions. It offers opportunities for individuals seeking to develop accounting skills or those who need additional skills to move-up from their current positions.

The Accounting technician program is built on a solid base of accounting theory, and includes specialized courses in computer operations. Students in this program earn hands-on learning experience in computer labs that mirror on-the-job accounting experiences.

Career Information

The Accounting Technician program is designed to place students into the workforce upon completion of the one-year diploma. Graduates are prepared for entry-level accounting technician positions, including financial record keeping, accounts payable or receivable specialist, and receptionist positions. Students who wish to earn a higher degree and seek higher level positions may continue on to complete an Associate of Applied Science degree by majoring in the Para-Accounting program.
