As you work toward an Associate of Arts degree, you’ll focus on learning the concepts and practices of human communication within business and organizations as well as among those with diverse backgrounds. This program typically enrolls fewer than 10 students, which lends itself to more personal interaction with instructors.
Internships with such companies as Mutual of Omaha and Woodmen of the World, and on campus with Iowa Western Public Relations will give you valuable real-world experience. This program will pave the way for entry into a variety of fields, including advertising, health, ministry, public relations, and marketing. Many students enter the workforce immediately, while others transfer to four-year institutions for further study.
The Communication Studies program is designed for students intending to transfer to a four-year degree. Career opportunities in the communications field are primarily dependant upon completion of a bachelor’s degree.
