Early Childhood: Child Development Certificate
About the Program
This certificate program will provide you with courses that will support you in starting and administering a child care business. Students will study leadership and management skills necessary to successfully administer an early childhood program. Graduates of the Early Childhood Administration program earn a certificate upon graduation and will be prepared to administer a child care program. In this program, you will study methods in enrollment, budgeting, legal issues, supervision, and communication skills in working with families, staff, community, and related professionals as a director in a child care setting.
This certificate program is designed for people who are currently working in the field but need additional education in order to broaden opportunities for promotion and career enhancement. The program is designed to enhance the quality of child care by increasing and recognizing the competence of those who care for and educate young children. Upon completion of this program, you will be eligible for Child Development Associate (CDA) certification from the Council for Professional Recognition. The CDA is a nationally recognized credential for those in the early care and education field, and it may be earned for preschool, infant/toddler, and family child care professionals. If obtaining an advanced degree is your goal, it is recommended that you major in the Early Childhood Studies AAS program where you will earn an Associate of Applied Science degree.
