Media Studies: Radio Promotions, Sales & Web

About the Program

There is so much more to working at a radio station than being a DJ. If you've always wanted to work in the radio broadcasting industry, but your interests lie in event planning, web development, sales, and social media, then the Applied Electronic Media Studies: Radio Promotions, Sales and Web program is a good fit for you. As a promotions, sales, and web student, you will learn how to create and effectively manage events and contests in electronic media. You will also gain valuable experience in sales, which is one of the highest paying and fastest growing jobs in radio.

Are you creative? As a graduate of the promotions, sales and web program, you will be in demand for your ability to create digital imaging and multi-media websites. Course work includes Promotions, Sales and Management, Web Design, Digital Imaging, Copywriting, Newswriting, production and performance. Students can enhance their classroom experience by participating in all station operations at 89.7 The River. Graduates of this program are awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree in two years, and are ready to move directly into the radio industry.

This program is designed for students intending to enter the workforce upon completion of this two-year degree. Radio announcing is a competitive field; however, many students begin working part-time or at small stations and move their way up. Graduates of this program are prepared for careers as Account Executives, promotions assistants, web directors, creative services specialists, and free-lancers.
