What are the admission requirements?
Admission requirements are listed on the program's webpage. Students are required to complete 20 hours of observation with a physical therapist assistant (PTA) or physical therapist (PT). Students must meet minimal score requirements on the COMPASS, ASSET, or ACT exam. Scores cannot be more than two years old at the start of the program. CPR certifications must be earned at the Health Care Provider Level.
How many students are accepted into the program each year?
The program admits twenty-four (24) students who meet the admissions criteria each spring semester. The program enrolls one class per year.
How long will it take to complete the program?
The PTA Program is a five semester course of study and upon successful completion students will be awarded with an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree.
Is a background check and drug testing a requirement of the program?
Background and drug testing requirements are necessary to protect health of students, faculty and patients during academic and clinical phases of the curriculum. Clinical facilities may require additional testing prior to clinical experiences.
When is the program's Technical Math course offered?
MAT 743 Technical Math course that meets program specific objectives is offered only in the spring semester. Alternative math classes including MAT 129, MAT 130 or MAT 211 will meet this requirement. Please check with your academic advisor regarding course equivalency.
