First Responder
The First Responder program is designed to provide individuals with the minimum training in pre-hospital emergency care. This course is available to the individual who wishes to provide basic immobilization and stabilization of the injured patient as well as providing the emergency medical attention to the patients who are in need of basic medical attention. Upon successful completion of this program, the student will be able to:
- Perform assessment skills on the medical and trauma patient
- Apply and understand the use of automated external defibrillator
- Use various airway adjuncts including the comb tube
- Use simple splinting devices
Once the student has completed the above written and practical skills and objectives they will be eligible to take the National Registry practical and written examination. This course is approximately 54 hours in length.
Prerequisites:
- Must hold a course completion card in CPR at the health care level prior to applying to the program and must maintain their CPR for the duration of the program
- Must be at least 17 years of age at the time of enrollment
- Must be physically able to perform all functions of a First Responder
- Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English

Fee: $390 includes tuition, textbooks and practical exam fees) Does not include written exam fees. Money order/cashier’s check/credit card only - no personal checks accepted. Fee must be paid on or before first night of class.
$25 non-refundable deposit must accompany registration
If billed to your service, a letter indicating financial responsibility must be submitted before the first night of class
