How do I become a Home Health Aide?

  1. Verify that you have a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certificate. You must have successfully completed the 75 Hour Certified Nurse Aide course—passing the challenge exam is not adequate
  2. Complete this 13 hour Home Health Aide Course
  3. Complete an 4 hour practicum in an agency upon employment

If you do not now have a CNA certificate, you can enroll in a 75 hour Certified Nurse Aide course here at Iowa Western Community College. It is offered monthly. The 13 hour Home Health Aide class may be completed after the 75 hour CNA course.

If interested in the CNA course, call 712/325-3344 for a brochure. For questions about Home Health Aide certification, contact Sarah Kleffman at 712/325-3259 or 800/432-5852, ext. 3259
