Nurse Aide Teacher Trainer Course

1.3 CEU's for Iowa Nurses, 13 Contact Hours for Nebraska Nurses

This course is designed to meet the OBRA requirements for preparing the RN to teach the Iowa approved 75 hour Certified Nurse Aide curriculum. The nurses will be provided with an introductory experience in basic education methodology, using behavioral objectives, teaching methods, classroom assessment techniques and evaluation. Completion of this program should enable the participant to:

  • List the OBRA requirements for qualified teachers and CNA as outlined by CMS and the Iowa DIA
  • Review the course competencies, course content and required skills
  • Review basic principles of learning
  • Develop a lesson plan for the first day of class
  • Discuss techniques to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and skills to the clinical setting
  • Review classroom assessment techniques and evaluation tools
