About the Program

This class is designed to prepare individuals to safely administer nonparenteral medications in a 15-bed or less MR residential facility, childcare facility, supervised apartment living or community supported living arrangements.
Emphasis is placed on safely administering medications from a prescription bottle and observing for obvious reactions to these medications.

Requirements

  • Be proficient at measuring blood pressure and apical pulse prior to beginning of class.
  • 3-ring binder, paper and highlighter.
  • Obtain 80% or better on final.
  • Skills checklist must be signed LEGIBLY or it will be returned to facility and certificate will be delayed.
  • A Registered Nurse must supervise the clinical part of the course.
  • Skills checklist must be returned to Iowa Western within 6 weeks of the last day of class or course must be repeated.

Medication Manager

Fee $125

Online Schedule

We will offer an online Medication Manager class each month. It’s easy to earn your certification!

  1. Register, pay and obtain user name and password.
  2. Watch video lectures.
  3. Complete activities for each unit.
  4. Watch videos of skills demos.
  5. Schedule and take final exam at IWCC, obtaining 80% or higher.
  6. Complete 2 hour clinical at your facility or IWCC (with prior arrangement).
  7. Turn in clinical within 6 weeks to receive certificate. Clinical sheets must be legibly signed by RN and student.

Fee

$105  (Additional $60 lab fee, if needed, with prior IWCC approval.)

Refund Policy:

  • No refunds given for withdrawal/transfer within 72 hours (3 business days) of class start date.
  • No refunds given for “no shows.”
  • One transfer per student will be allowed with at least 72 hours (3 business days) notice.
  • No substitution of students allowed.
