What do the tutors do?
  • Assist students in targeted subject areas via individual or group tutoring
  • Host study session on selected topics or classes
  • Model and encourage effective study strategies
  • Contribute to a friendly and productive learning environment
  • Compile Excel sheets detailing students helped
  • Attend monthly meetings with the
What will occur during a tutoring session?
  • Your tutor will answer any questions you may have concerning class material and study skills.
  • The tutor will help you with concepts and terms you may not understand.
  • You tutor will assist you with note-taking, test-taking, reading the textbook, how to get the most out of your class lecture, and how to study for your particular subject test.
  • It is up to you to structure the tutoring sessions - the tutors are here for you!!
How do I become one of these tutors?
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and an A or B average in course(s) tutoring
  • Must be currently enrolled at IWCC
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to relate to students with various academic levels and needs
  • Apply to become a tutor by clicking “APPLY TO BE A TUTOR” in the top right corner of this page
Tutors are paid on the following schedules:
  • $8.00/hour if you have less than 30 IWCC credit hours and/or one semester experience working for IWCC
  • $8.50/hour if you have at least 30 IWCC credit hours and one semester working for IWCC
