Transfer Checklist
- Start early: It is important that you begin the transfer process in your first semester at Iowa Western. Planning in advance will increase your preparation and your success in transferring your credits.
- Visit with your assigned program advisor: Your advisor will guide you to graduation and beyond, and he or she is also a valuable source for transfer information.
- Determine what you want to study at a university: Begin your research by checking out the Iowa Western Career Planning site.
- Explore your options: Most of this research can be done on the internet, exploring all the possibilities to where you choose to transfer can take some time. Be sure to take notes along the way!
- Attend the Transfer Fair and college rep visits: Iowa Western hosts 2 a transfer fair in the fall and spring semesters. Additionally, college reps make individual visits throughout the year. Check the calendar for dates!
- Visit your top choices: Take advantage of the opportunities that many four year colleges offer, many of them offer large group visit days or individual visits by appointment. Check out what else you should know before a campus visit.
- Submit your application materials: Be aware of application deadlines and other deadlines that your transfer institution has. Mark them on your calendar and plan ahead!
- Apply for graduation:Don’t forget to apply to get your degree from Iowa Western. You have earned it!
