Visit your top choices

Perhaps the most important part of narrowing down your choices of colleges is to visit each school. Institutions offer individual tours as well as large visit days, both of which give you the opportunity to see if that school is right for you. Also, keep in mind when scheduling a visit, that you will want to see the campus when school is in session. A quiet set of buildings is not the way to decide if this institution will work for you.  On your visit be sure to talk with students, faculty, and staff, and sit in on a typical size class, and try to pick a course that is related to your major. Hint: when you visit, take a copy of your transcript for an unofficial evaluation to be done by an advisor (how to get a copy). If you are unable to visit the school you are interested in, do a virtual tour (http://www.campustours.com) and get connected with the admissions office to be added to their mailing list. On your visit don’t forget to take a list of questions to ask a rep and the comparison chart for your notes.
