TRiO Lab
The TRiO Lab was designed to create a welcoming atmosphere where students come to study comfortably in a quiet environment. TRiO students are also encouraged to utilize the lab to write papers, complete assignments and access the internet. The TRiO Lab is also a great place to come in and connect with staff or just relax with friends. Several computers and a laser printer are located in the Lab of the TRiO offices (Fremont 133) for TRiO/SSS students. The computers are also equipped with computer-tutorials in a variety of subjects.
Learning Skills And Needs Assessment
Each participant of the TRiO/SSS program must complete a detailed needs assessment within 30 days of their acceptance into the program. The needs assessment is designed to provide both the participant and the TRiO/SSS advisor with a specific outline of the individual’s needs.
Students who are newly accepted into the program, are required to complete the College Student Inventory (CSI). The CSI is an on-line assessment that asks students to respond to important matters related to their academic motivation and openness to assistance. Information from this assessment allows both the TRiO Advisor and the student to formulate a plan for future success at IWCC.
Technology Loan Program
The TRiO Technology Loan Program is designed to offer assistance to SSS students who would like to checkout various pieces of technology equipment as it relates to academic requirements. Students may check out laptop computers, digital cameras as well as scientific and graphing calculators.
Students must be in good standing with the program at the time of checking out the equipment and must demonstrate an academic/project need. All equipment is available in limited supply and each student must adhere to the 48-hour check out policy.
Students are solely responsible for the equipment while it is in their possession and their account will be charged accordingly for any damages that occur as a result of negligence.
