College Work Study & Student Employment

Students who wish to work while attending Iowa Western will find job opportunities on campus and in the community. Many students enjoy working on campus because of the benefits during college and for future careers.

  • Develop positive relationships with Staff, Faculty, and Peers

Iowa Western does not assign students jobs. Resources to assist students in finding employment are located on Reiver Job Board in ROC. Students may be paid through the College Work Study program or hourly student wages. The starting wage of a student employee is $8.00 per hour. Students are paid bi-monthly and have the option for direct deposit.

College Work Study

College Work Study is a financial aid program that offers hourly employment to students on campus. Federal financial aid dollars fund the College Work Study program. As an employment program, students are paid for the hours they work. Students are not paid to study.

To be awarded College Work Study, a student must:
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident
  • Be a full-time student
  • Demonstrate financial need by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year
  • Remain in good financial aid standing

The maximum academic year College Work Study award is $2,000, divided among the fall and spring semester. College Work Study is not available during the summer terms. A student may contact an Enrollment Advisor to inquire about eligible in the College Work Study program. Positions are limited and many jobs come on a first come basis.

Student Employment

Student Employment at Iowa Western is a program that allows full or part-time students an opportunity to work on campus. The Student Employment program gives students the ability to independently search, apply, and interview for a job on campus via the Reiver Job Board. If a student is interested in learning more about working on campus, check out the board for more information.

To be eligible for Student Employment, a student must:
  • Be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or International (F1) student
  • Be a current full or part-time Student
  • Maintain in good academic standing within the institution
