What Will You Become?
Iowa Western Community College The world is waiting

Get Involved

Student learning and student retention are correlated strongly with student engagement. The more actively engaged students are - with college faculty and staff, with other students, with the subject matter being learned - the more likely they are to persist in their college studies and achieve at higher levels.

If you have an idea for an event or would like to help out with activities, please contact the Student Activities Coordinator or the Student Center Coordinator in the Student Life Center. Make sure to keep informed of the events by utilizing your Student Handbook/Planner.

Programs

The Student Activities Office offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of all our students. We have activities that include educational programs, athletic programs, service learning programs, fine arts programs, and just good old FUN programs to name a few.

There are many opportunities to get involved and have fun at Iowa Western. There is so much going on, make sure and check the Student Activities Calendar regularly so you don’t miss out!

Opportunities to Give Back

As a college created for the community, we take great pride in giving back. Below are just a few of our annual opportunities in giving back to the community.

Mohm’s Place Food Drive

Each year in November, Student Activities does a can drive for Mohm’s Place, a local non-profit organization whose mission is giving hope for the hungry, homeless and hurting. Every year the number of cans that we collect gets bigger and bigger. For more information on how you can get involved contact the Student Activities Coordinator in the Student Center.

Operation Santa

Each year in December, Student Activities adopts two to three families that are in need or without our help would not have a Christmas. For more information on how you can get involved contact the Student Activities Coordinator in the Student Life Center.

Many volunteer opportunities are available through the Office of the Coordinator of Learning Centered Initiatives.
