Applying for Financial Aid:
To apply for financial aid you must:
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is
available in December and may be submitted after January 1 for the school
year beginning the next fall. This form is available in our Financial Aid
Office, your High School Guidance Counselor's office, or online at www.fafsa.ed.gov .
If submitted electronically:
- You will be assigned a PIN number for signature.
- Send your information to us by using our federal school code number 004598.
- The FAFSA application must be done each year.
After completion of the FAFSA your eligibility will be determined based on family contribution and college costs.
- Complete and submit the IWCC FA Information Form.
- You will receive an Award Letter from our office after ALL the necessary information is completed and received.

Applying for Loans:
The Federal Stafford Student Loan eligibility listed on your Award Letter REQUIRES A SEPARATE APPLICATION in order to receive this loan.
If you need to borrow one or both of these loans, you must:
- Complete the Stafford Loan Authorization Form and/or Parent PLUS Loan Authorization Form that is enclosed with you Financial Aid Award Packet.
- Return the completed Loan Authorization Form(s) to the Financial Aid Office.
- The Financial Aid office electronically submit your loan information to the lender/servicer.
- New student or first time borrowers, will be sent a post card from the servicer instructing you to visit the website to complete the MPN. Students that do not have access to a computer may request a paper MPN and a pre-printed Master Promissory Note will be mailed to you. You must complete a MPN (Either electronically or paper version), before any funds are disbursed.
- Upon receipt, the lender/servicer will disburse funds,a s scheduled, to Iowa Western
- IMPORTANT! All new borrowers are required by the federal government to complete Entrance Loan Counseling. This requirement may be met electronically by going to Entrance Interviews
