What do I do at Iowa Western?
What don’t I do??? When I started at IWCC, I worked in admissions, I still do help in admissions when it’s busy, so you might see me when you tour or register for classes. However, as an Advisor/Transfer Specialist I work with current students, mostly who are General Studies, who need assistance progressing towards graduation and planning their transfer. I also get to work with faculty and help develop their advising skills. I also coordinate the college visits and transfer fair on campus.

IWCC Stuff

Favorite IWCC Student Story:
One of my favorite memories was working with an international student. She was planning to transfer to a school in Canada, a place that she had never been. She was trying to decide if she should stay close to Iowa Western, where she had become familiar, or leave and go to an unknown place again. Talking with her about her decision making process and watching her decide was really rewarding. In the end she transferred up to Winnipeg, and although I miss her, I know that she is doing well there and I know it was the right choice for her to make.

IWCC Insider Tip:
Watch for bookstore deals! They have great sales on Reiver gear throughout the year, like during tournament seasons. It is a great time to stock up to show your Reiver Fever!

http://www.iwcc.edu/current/transfer/ This has to be my favorite, because I got to help create it. It was so much fun to watch a website being built from the ground up. I think it is a great tool to use when researching where to transfer after graduating at IWCC.


Fun Stuff

What could you not live without?
Ok, I am sort of slow on technology. I live simply so this is hard! I do love Netflix and I don’t know what I did before we had it. I guess I went to the movie store to rent them (drag)! I also rely on ABC.com for Grey’s Anatomy episodes.


Community Service Involvement:
This year the Admissions Office is participating in the Relay for Life in Council Bluffs. It has been a great opportunity to work with the staff on a different goal but also a lot of fun to plan.


Hobbies and Interests:
- Being in the sun
- Food: I am always thinking about food
- Travel: I love the west (California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Arizona) mostly for the food 
- Tim Tams from Australia
