VIP---Volunteer Institute Program

Everyone who volunteers at Iowa Western Community College has his or her own reason for doing so. Some of our volunteers donate a few hours each month, while others are at the college lending a hand much more often. It all depends on their schedules and lifestyles. Two things are certain:

  1. volunteers make a difference at Iowa Western and...
  2. they are very much appreciated!
Benefits of Volunteering at Iowa Western include:
  • Personal Satisfaction
  • Opportunity to enroll in a credit class free of charge for every 100 volunteer hours recorded
  • Use of the College Library
  • Use of the Wellness Center
  • Opportunity to make new friends and be a friend to others
  • Having new experiences and learning new skills
Volunteer Opportunities:
  • Serving as a community/county liaison on the VIP Board
  • Providing leadership by being an advisory board member
  • Performing clerical tasks
  • Getting involved in fine arts activities
  • Providing consulting services
  • Making classroom presentations
  • Singing in the Community Chorus
  • Teaching adults to read
  • Scoring tests
  • Tutoring students
  • Helping fundraise for scholarships
  • Reading tests to students with special needs
  • Plaing an instrument in the Community Band
