Paying for College
Payment arrangements that cover the entire balance of a student’s account, including tuition, fees, campus housing, and meal plans, must be made each semester by the payment deadline.
Payment arrangements can be made by completing the Financial Aid application and award acceptance process, by setting up the eCashier (Spring/Summer) or eCashier (Fall) automatic payment plan, or through a combination of these two options. In addition, payment in full can be made through one of the following options: online through eCashier, over the phone with a debit card or credit card by calling 712.325.3225, through the mail with a check, or by going to the Cahier’s window and paying with cash, check, debit card, or credit card. Students who fail to make payment arrangements by the payment deadline may be subject to Administrative Withdrawal.
Apply for Financial Aid
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov and must be completed each year in order to determine your eligibility for grants (money you don’t need to pay back) and loans (money you borrow). You will need to know Iowa Western’s school code, which is 004598. Once you are enrolled, at the end of each calendar year, the Department of Education will send you a Renewal Reminder letter or email reminding you to re-apply for financial aid. To remain eligible, you must also maintain satisfactory academic progress.
Apply for Scholarships
Many scholarship opportunities, including awards based on achievement and/or financial need, are available for new and continuing students. In fact, Iowa Western awards over 350 scholarships totaling over $1 million each year, and when you consider how low tuition is to begin with as well as the fact that the money is going to a fairly small pool of only about 4,000 students, that figure becomes even more staggering. The Iowa Western Foundation scholarship application is available online or it can be picked up from the Financial Aid or Admissions Offices.
Set Up a Payment Plan
If you plan to finance your education on your own or if your financial aid will not cover all your expenses (which is the case for most students in housing), you need to make payment in full or set up an automatic payment plan throught eCashier. Be sure to make payment arrangements by the payment deadline each semester.
