Connie Hornbeck has long been a strong vocal advocate for community colleges across the State of Iowa, and now the Logan native will take that leadership voice to the national forefront. Hornbeck, a member of the Iowa Western board for the past 18 years, has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the influential Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) board of directors. She will stand for a general election seat in October 2013.
“I am honored to be able to represent the State of Iowa on the ACCT Board,” Hornbeck said. “I look forward to sharing stories about the great work going on at our community colleges, and to being a strong advocate for our mission on a national level.”
Hornbeck, who is president and CEO of CJ Futures, Inc. in Missouri Valley, Iowa, has served on many committees during her tenure on the IWCC board, and is currently board vice chair and the representative to the Iowa Association of Community College Trustees (IACCT) board. A past chair of IACCT, Hornbeck currently serve as board treasurer, financial oversight committee chair, executive committee and board development member, and as commissioner of the Midwest Higher Education Commission.
