Celebrate National Manufacturing Day with Ellison Technologies and IWCC
Council Bluffs, Iowa - Ellison Technologies and Iowa Western Community College are partnering to celebrate National Manufacturing Day on Friday, October 4 with an open house at Ellison Technologies from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The event will showcase exciting projects happening in manufacturing and the value of manufacturing in our community. More than 100 high school students from the community will be in attendance to learn more about challenging career options in robotics.
The event is open to the public. Please RSVP to Shannon Gibson at email@example.com or Chad Thomas at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In response to a documented shortage of skilled workers in Iowa’s advanced manufacturing sector, the 15 Iowa community colleges have formed a consortium known as the Iowa-Advanced Manufacturing (I-AM) Consortium, to collaboratively build the training capacity necessary to meet industry demand and arm Iowans with the skills they need to engage in Iowa’s workforce. Elevate Advanced Manufacturing is the statewide marketing effort to make advanced manufacturing a top career choice for Iowans.
As a partnership between the I-AM, The Iowa Association of Business & Industry (ABI), and manufacturers throughout the state, the partnership hopes to promote career and educational pathways in advanced manufacturing.
In October of 2012, I-AM was awarded $12,951,165.00 (over 4 years) by the Department of Labor’s Employment Training Administration as part of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College Career Training (TAACCCT) Grant Program.
