Welcome to Biological Sciences
Description
Biological Sciences department prepares the students for transfer into a four-year institution. Graduates will have acquired a broad foundation of knowledge in the natural and physical sciences as well as the ability to use this knowledge. Graduates of this program are awarded an Associate in Science degree.
Although members of the science department make every effort to consult with various colleges and universities regarding transfer requirements, students are encouraged to consult catalogs, web sites and advisors at their chosen four-year institution during their freshman year.
Admission Requirements
Admission to the college is granted to all individuals who are high school graduates or the equivalent; however, some programs may require additional information for acceptance. We encourage you to review our Getting Started Checklist for specific requirement for admission.
Career Opportunities
According to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor and Statistics, most biological scientists are employed by Federal, State and local governments in such fields as agriculture, defense, and at the National Institutes of Health. Other scientists work in research and testing laboratories, the pharmaceutical and medicine manufacturing industry as well as hospitals. Biologists are also in demand as teachers in middle and high schools as well as faculty in colleges and universities.
Course Sequences
All students need to follow a science course progression, see the Science Major Course Flow Chart.
