Are you looking for a change and are you interested in an exciting career? Or do you already have a degree? Do you have the desire to enhance your knowledge of software applications? Do you enjoy interacting with others and helping solve problems? Then you should consider completing the Help Desk certificate in the Computer Studies area of Iowa Western Community College. The Help Desk concentration of study prepares students for careers as Level I Information Technology support professionals. Students become knowledgeable in microcomputer repair and end-user help desk level I support. Graduates of this one year program will earn a certificate in Help Desk.

 

Program Highlights

During your course of study you will learn:

  • Microcomputer Operating Systems
  • Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and Data Base applications
  • Data and Telecommunications
  • Web applications and design
  • Microcomputer repair

An open computer laboratory is available and furnished with current computer technology. Iowa Western Community College offers an environment which promotes hands-on learning with small class sizes for individual instruction.

Career Information

The job market for graduates with help desk experience is growing, and trained individuals are in demand.  Salaries for help desk support individuals vary based on experience, education level, and geographic location.
