James Davey, Program Chair       BS Criminal Justice,
                                                     Masters Public Admininstration (MPA)

Jim has been the Program Chair of the Criminal Justice and Forensic Investigation Programs at Iowa Western Community College since January 2006.  From 2000 to 2006 he was a full time instructor in the Criminal Justice Program at Des Moines Area Community College.  He began his law enforcement career in 1976 with the Des Moines, Iowa Police Department.  He eventually ended up working for 4 other law enforcement agencies including Douglas County (Omaha) Nebraska Sheriff’s Office, Converse County Wyoming Sheriff’s Office, Carrollton, TX Police Department, and finally as Police Chief of the Shenandoah, Iowa Police Department where he served from 1993 to 1998.  Jim still works as a part time officer for SPD.

Jim broke into his police training career when he accepted a staff instructor position with the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy back in 1983.  From there he moved down to Texas where he worked his way up to the Director position of the University of Houston-Downtown Criminal Justice Center (a regional police/security training facility.)  In addition to his IWCC and DMACC community college teaching experience, Jim has also taught part time for Graceland College, Upper Iowa University, and Simpson College.  He also spent one year as a fulltime CJ faculty member at the University of Houston-Downtown.

Jim holds a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from Central Missouri State University, a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and has 60+ plus doctoral graduate hours in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, TX.

Jim undertook his first international police mission in 1998 when he spent a year working for the United Nations Mission in Bosnia training police officers.  He then returned to the former Yugoslavia for 6 months in 1999 to teach recruits for OSCE at the Kosovo Police School.  Jim’s latest international adventure was spending 19 months in Baghdad working for CPATT training Iraqi police officers as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Jim is married to Eileen (Tray) Davey, and they have 4 children … Lauren, Brian, Kevin, and Michael.  Jim, Eileen, and Lauren are still residents of Shenandoah.

 

Pamela Hart, Assistant Professor of cJ                            MS Criminal Justice

Pam began her CJ career in the juvenile probation and parole field.  She has also been a Child Welfare and Children's Foster Care worker.  In 1988 she came to IWCC where she was program chair until 2005.  In 1996 she was responsible for creating the IWCC Forensic Investigation Program, the first of its kind at any community college in the U.S.

Pam obtained her Master of Arts in Criminal Justice Degree from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington.
