Admission Requirements
Admission to the college is granted to all individuals who are high school graduates or the equivalent; however, some programs may require additional information for acceptance. We encourage you to review our Getting Started Checklist for specific requirements for admission.

Graphic Communications offers many options in the job market. You will be employable in an entry-level position or transfer into marketing or design after two years. Whether you're an artist or love computers and design, there is a career for you. The Graphic Communications program at Iowa Western focuses on the software used in the industry, while working in a Mac environment. You will learn the basics of web design, publishing, and marketing.

The graphic communications industry today is part of our nation's global minded economy. Graphic communications is a multifaceted industry, with a wide range of career opportunities. The graphic communications industry is made up of not only printers, but also publishers, packagers, papermakers, inkmakers, equipment manufacturers, and in-house design and printing departments within corporations, banks, and even department stores.

Articulation and Transfer Opportunities
Iowa Western Community College has articulation agreements with various four-year schools, local and state.
Bellevue University has an accelerated Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design through their C3-New Century Degree. All of your courses taken at Iowa Western will transfer to Bellevue. If you decide on a different institution, it is advised to discuss this with your advisor in order for us to work closely with that institution to advise you in the right direction.
Facilities
The Graphic Communications program has a state of the art MAC lab. There are 18 student stations equipped each with a 24 inch screen iMAC© loaded with the latest in industry software, additional monitor for dual monitoring, 2 scanning stations, wireless network capabilities, an Epson© 9800 large format printer, an Epson© 4000 ink jet printer and much more.
