About the Program

You can build a solid future in construction by enrolling in IWCC’s new Residential Construction Technology study program. In one short year, you can earn a diploma and begin using your carpentry skills for a rewarding career.

In this program, you’ll learn all phases of the industry, including these related areas:

  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • HVAC
  • Energy Efficient Technologies

IWCC students get real hands-on experience by constructing a residential home each year. That’s a resume-building experience. IWCC also partners with area industry organizations to give students a real feel for what’s involved in residential industry.

Summer time means paid internships – 260 hours’ worth. In many internship cases, companies hire students upon completion of the program. The program uses the most up-to-date technology on site. You’ll have access to laptops, digital cameras, and scanners. This program matches up well with other area schools.

Career Information

The Construction Technology - Residential program is designed to place students into the work force upon completion of the ten-month program. This program will train students to be proficient in all phases of residential construction. Specific jobs range from being a door and window installer to being a roof, siding, and gutter installer. You will also be able to work as a residential framer and drywall installer/finisher. If obtaining an advanced degree is your goal, which increases job opportunities and pay, it is recommended that you major in our Construction Technology AAS program.

Average: $27,819 or $13.38/hour

Entry Level: $9.68/hour
Experienced: $15.23/hour
