The Solar Installation Technician program of study will teach students operational skills and a basic understanding of photovoltaic (solar electric), solar thermal (water/air/heating/effects of wind), and passive solar equipment. Graduates of this program are awarded a certificate.

What will you do
Solar installers assemble, install, or maintain solar systems on roofs or other structures in compliance with site assessment and schematics. May include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules. This is one of the fastest green job industries in the nation. Students should have a degree or work experience in construction, electrical, or plumbing.

- Demonstrate appropriate safe work habits when operating oxyfuel and electric welding equipment and function safely in a welding environment.
- Demonstrate welding operations with the appropriate process on various metals and situations.
- Display manipulative skills with various welding processes to assure adequate weld integrity and appearance.
- Interpret blueprint welding symbols to fabricate components.
- Demonstrate the principles and application of metallurgy.
- Demonstrate basic pipe welding skills.
- Fabricate a welding project using multiple welding techniques.
- Identify multiple welding certification processes for the different career opportunities within welding.
