EMS Refresher Course

An EMS refresher course may be offered at the college or may be tailored to your own specific department needs if requested. The refresher covers the National content for NREMT renewal, covering both didactic and skills requirements.

EMS-Instructor

This course is designed to train experienced pre-hospital providers to provide instruction to students enrolled in EMS education programs. Topics covered include: instructor roles and responsibilities, student learning styles, lesson plans, presentation skills, evaluation methods, motivation, teaching psychomotor skills, and legal and ethical issues associated with instruction. The course will be interactive and will include the opportunity to provide didactic and practical student education in a simulated classroom experience.

Emergency Medical Responder

Formerly known as First Responder. This class usually meets two nights per week for eight weeks. The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course emphasizes the development of student skills in patient assessment and examination, recognition of signs and symptoms regarding illness or injury, and proper procedures when rendering basic emergency care.

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the overall role and responsibilities of an Emergency Medical Responder in performing both emergency medical care and operational aspects of the profession.  In addition to the classroom and practical portions of the course, the student will complete a sixteen hour internship in an emergency department.
