New to photography or just wan to understand your camera better? This hands-on class covers everything you need to start shooting with confidence. You'll learn how aperture, shutter speed, and ISA work together, how to compose a compelling shot, and how to get out of auto mode for good. Please bring your camera, DSLR or mirrorless.

Join this fun and creative candle-making experience led by Horizons Candle Shop! During this hands-on class, you'll create two custom 4-ounce candles while choosing from a variety of fragrance options to design your perfect scent. No experience is necessary—Horizons will guide you through the entire process from start to finish. Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, mingle with friends, participate in fun giveaways, and leave with two beautiful handmade candles created by you! Pre-registration is required.

Fee includes the online book, online recorded follow up lessons, a recording of the class and also an optional live periodic question and answer session. This allows the student to continue their lessons on their own. Class is held online using zoom and is partly hands on instruction and partly lecture demonstration.
Instrument on hand recommended.

Take your camera courtside and learn to capture action. You'll learn the settings and techniques needed to freeze fast-moving subjects with hands-on opportunities. A great next step after Photography Basics, but open to anyone comfortable with their camera settings. Please bring your camera, DSLR or mirrorless.

October 10, 2026, from 1:00-2:30pm
Create a beautiful, functional ceramic piece in this fun, hands on workshop! The registration fee includes one ceramic piece, glazes, and all art supplies- just bring your creativity! Clay Contours will lead this workshop and take the glazed pieces back to their kiln for firing. Finished pieces will be returned to Iowa Western for pick up before October 26. Once fired, all pieces are food, dishwasher, and microwave safe.
After registration, you will receive an email with the available ceramic options. Each participant will pick one piece to glaze during class. Options include: mug, soup bowl, jack-o-lanterns, cat with a pumpkin, and gnomes.

Your photos are only half done when you put the camera down. In this class, you'll learn how to use Adobe Lightroom to bring your images to life, adjusting exposure, color, and contrast, building a consistent editing style, and exporting your finished photos for print or social media. Please bring a laptop with Lightroom installed and a few photos you'd love to transform or come and follow along.

This 60-minute beginner-friendly yoga class is designed to help reduce stress and enhance flexibility. Yoga for beginners will focus on soft, mindful movements to connect our body and mind. The simple sequence of movements, along with intention, build a stronger body and mindset. Ultimately, making us happier and healthier to take on all that we want to accomplish in life! Yoga mats are available, but feel free to bring your own.
Students will be given a brief history of Copperplate Script, an overview of tools and materials, and instruction on how to use them. After learning some basic strokes for lowercase and uppercase letters using a traditional steel nib and oblique pen holder, students will learn how to form key letters that will allow them to continue their calligraphic study at home. Students will leave class with detailed exemplars and guide sheets for practice at home, as well as all supplies provided in class: a pen holder, nib, and a jar of ink. No calligraphy experience (or good handwriting!) needed, advanced or intermediate students will also benefit from guidance from an experienced instructor.
Class is taught by Cheryl Dyer who is a poet, visual artist, and calligrapher. Her poetry has been published in several literary journals, and her visual artwork has been shown nationally. In addition to her artwork and writing she works as a lettering artist and calligraphy instructor.
