Thoughtful Programs. Challenging Courses
Our students are ambitious. The majority of Iowa Western students enroll in programs designed to transfer to a four-year college or university after just two years. What does that mean? Our programs are modeled after the first two years of bachelor degree programs, our courses are designed to prepare you for a rigorous education, and our advisors are trained to assist you with the transfer process.
Iowa Western works diligently to ensure that the credits you earn will transfer to the school of your choice. In addition to the articulation agreements Iowa Western has with a large number of four-year schools, students who transfer to a regent school in Iowa with an Associate’s degree earn credit for all general education courses required at the freshman and sophomore level. We’ve also arranged admissions partnership agreements with several schools that give our students access to resources and activities at those schools while they are here. Our goal is simple: Make the transfer process seamless.
There are over 7,000 colleges and universities in the United States. Not sure where to go next? Iowa Western provides resources and services to assist you in deciding on a transfer school, preparing to transfer, and initiating the transfer process. Our Transfer website contains and abundance of transfer resources, including transfer checklists, college comparison worksheets, and transfer agreements. Want to meet with someone from your school of interest? Our transfer fairs, held twice each year, are attended by more than 40 regional colleges and universities. Between transfer fairs and our transfer kiosk, hosted by a different school every week, you will have constant exposure to transfer advisors at all of the schools in our region and beyond.
Want to transfer into a unique program such as Human Computer Interaction or Marine Science? We may not offer those programs here, but we’ve got something better. Our General Studies major will allow you to customize a program to fit your transfer needs. The first two years of most bachelor degrees are comprised of general education courses, and we can tailor the combination of courses you take to satisfy degree requirements for almost any bachelor’s degree…even Aeronautical Management Technology. Choose this option and you’ll be in good company. It’s the largest major at Iowa Western.
