Iowa Western Community College’s Culinary Arts Degree program has received a Accreditation from the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Education Foundation Accrediting Commission.

The Culinary Arts: Culinarian program prepares students who enjoy working with food for a challenging career in all facets of the hospitality industry.  The curriculum emphasizes fundamental and intermediate techniques in culinary skills and kitchen management. The curriculum enables students to develop supervisory skills as well as training to become a culinarian. Related instruction emphasizes supervision, cost controls, purchasing, nutrition and wellness, advanced culinary garde manger, advanced soups, sauces, and â la carte cookery principles.

Get on the cutting edge of cooking by enrolling in Iowa Western’s Culinary Arts program of study. You’ll learn the fundamental and intermediate techniques of food preparation, production, and baking skills. Graduates are awarded a Diploma and find immediate employment in this exciting field.

You’ll get hands-on cooking experience in Iowa Western’s new facility in the Student Center. Iowa Western also participates in the Iowa Beef competition and the Iowa Pork competition each year.

Students pursuing a career in the culinary industry can start with this two semester certificate program, designed to teach students the basic food safety, preparation, and production skills and techniques needed to gain entry-level employment in restaurant, hotel, motel, institutional, health care and private club facilities.

After completion of the course sequence, students earn a certificate, which can be applied toward advanced awards, including a diploma program and three Associate of Applied Science degrees in Culinary Arts: Culinary, Baking and Pastry Art, and Restaurant and Hospitality Management.
