Student Outreach and Support (SOS)

We’re Here to Help

We know our students have a lot going on in their lives and it can be overwhelming to balance it all. Student Outreach and Support (SOS) is here to help! We offer a range of FREE services that support your needs in and out of the classroom.

Mental Health Mental Health Services

College is stressful for many students, whether or not you have existing mental health concerns. Our mental health practitioners provide free, short-term, confidential counseling to all Iowa Western students. Here are just a few reasons why a student may need support from our mental health services:

  • Personal tragedies or events
  • Depression, suicidal thoughts, or emotional disturbances
  • Homesickness or trouble adjusting to college life

For more information about mental health supports or services, email sos@iwcc.edu or see the SOS page in ROC.

If you are concerned about a student who may need mental health support, please submit a CARE referral.

Food Pantry Rocky’s Emergency Pantry

Almost half of all college students struggle with basic needs, and we know that Iowa Western students are no exception. Rocky’s Emergency Pantry is available for students who need food, personal hygiene, and toiletry items. To learn more about our pantry, or to donate, email sos@iwcc.edu. Current students can access more information on the SOS page in ROC.

Emergency AssistanceReiver Relief Fund

We understand that a flat tire, broken bone, or other unexpected expense can be financially and mentally draining. Unfortunately, these things happen and when they do, school is probably the last thing on your mind.

The Reiver Relief Fund (RRF) is available to help you manage unexpected financial burdens that are impacting your ability to be successful. The RRF is only available to students enrolled in the current semester. For information about the RRF, email sos@iwcc.edu or visit the SOS page in ROC.
