This program is designed to get you on the ground floor of any company. It prepares you to become a web programmer, programmer, or database programmer. Job placement is 100 percent, and there is the opportunity to transfer to a four-year institution.

Students who complete this AAS degree will have earned a Computers: Programming certificate by completion.

The world of computers is fast changing, and you can keep up with the times with Iowa Western’s Desktop Support program of study. It’s an ideal way to learn installation and management of computer hardware and operating systems. Upon completion of the program, you’ll earn a certificate.

Using the Microsoft Academic Alliance, this program is unique and cost-effective. Students can obtain some Microsoft software free or at a reduced cost. The program is perfect if you wish to become proficient in help desk operation, computer repair, and computer sales and service.

This program is very hands-on, a plus for those wishing to get up to speed as quickly as possible. The program complements other Iowa Western computer programs of study. Not all program courses are offered on-line or every year. Computer scholarship opportunities are available throughout the department. For those wishing to continue toward a bachelor’s degree, some classes will transfer to four-year institutions.  

Students who complete this certificate will earn credit toward completion of the Computers: Network and System Administration A.A.S degree.

Information technology continues to grow day by day, and you can take advantage of the many opportunities in this field through Iowa Western’s Network and System Administration program. Here you’ll learn how to install, maintain, and administer network operating systems. Training in the installation and maintenance of hardware and software for servers and desktops is also offered.

As you work toward an Associate of Applied Science degree, you’ll learn from Microsoft and Cisco certified instructors. This program will prepare you for entry as a help desk expert, system administrator, or data center technician.

Students who complete this A.A.S degree will have earned a Computers: Desktop Support, Computers: Network Administration, and a Computers: System Administration certificate by completion.

Careers in information technology are abundant, and you can be on your way to working as a system administration tech in just two semesters with Iowa Western’s System Administration Certificate program.

Students in this program learn from Microsoft and Cisco certified instructors in our state-of-the-art computer labs. Coursework is limited to the most hands-on applied courses you will need to successfully learn how to install, maintain, and administer network operating systems.

In as little as two semesters you could be on your way to working as a computer programmer by completing the Computers: Programming Certificate program of study at Iowa Western.

Students in this program get hands-on experience in multiple computer environments while learning programming languages and World Wide Web technologies. Coursework is limited to the essential hands-on courses you will need to be a successful programmer.

Students who complete this certificate will earn credit toward completion of the Computers: Application & Web Programming A.A.S degree.

Students who complete this certificate will earn credit toward completion of the Computers: Network and System Administration A.A.S degree.

The Cyber Security Technology A.A.S. Degree will provide students with strong foundational skills in Cyber Defense, Network Security, Penetration Testing, IT Audit, Cyber Forensics, as well as many other topics related to Cyber Security.

Students will have the opportunity during the A.A.S. Degree path to train in a virtual environment, which will provide a valuable opportunity to develop real IT skills.  The virtualization environment offered will provide students an opportunity to simulate the day-to-day cybersecurity-related tasks as well as this also provides an option to work remotely.

Students who complete this A.A.S degree will have earned a Computers: Cyber Security certificate and Computers: Cyber Security diploma by completion.

The Cyber Security Diploma program prepares students for an entry-level cybersecurity position.  Students learn how to apply various methods of cybersecurity investigation and forensics.  Students demonstrate an understanding of network systems and network security, manage firewalls, and install and configure systems and applications. 

Students who complete this diploma will have earned a Computers: Cyber Security certificate by completion. Students who complete this diploma also will earn credit toward completion of the Computers: Cyber Security Technology A.A.S degree. 

The Cyber Security Certificate program prepares graduates for an entry-level cybersecurity position.  Students develop a basic foundation of system administration, information security, cyber investigations, and forensics. 

Students who complete this certificate will earn credit toward completion of the Computers: Cyber Security diploma and the Computers: Cyber Security Technology A.A.S degree.

The Web Design and Development A.A.S. program of study allows students to gain skills in aesthetic web design concepts and technical web coding to become a well-rounded, in-demand candidate in the job market upon graduation. Students will take a unique variety of graphic design and web development courses that prepares students for a rewarding career in several areas of the industry. This includes full-stack skills in front-end user interface and experience (UI/UX) design as well as back-end, server-side development, and database design. 

Students who complete this A.A.S degree will have earned a Computers: Web Design and Coding certificate and Computers: Web Design and Development diploma by completion.

The Web Design and Coding Certificate provides students an opportunity to prepare for a position in front-end web design by focusing on web coding and graphic design principles needed to be successful in the field. 

Students who complete this certificate will earn credit toward completion of the Computers: Web Design and Development diploma and the Computers: Web Design and Development A.A.S degree.

The Web Design and Development diploma is an accelerated program that provides students the opportunity to prepare for a position in front-end web design, graphic design principles, and server-side web programming. 

Students who complete this diploma will have earned a Computers: Web Design and Coding certificate by completion. Students who complete this diploma also will earn credit toward completion of the Computers: Web Design and Development A.A.S degree.
