What is Title IX?

Title IX is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs and activities (including pregnancy, pregnancy related conditions, and parental status). Supportive Measures Available

Iowa Western Community College is here to help! There are reasonable modifications that may be put into place to prevent discrimination and ensure equal access to Iowa Western’s educational programs and activities. Reasonable modifications are based on individual needs and may vary on a case-by-case basis. Documentation may be required. Reasonable modifications may include but are not limited to:

  • Breaks during class to express breast milk, breastfeed, or attend to health needs associated with pregnancy or related conditions, including eating, drinking, or using the restroom.
  • Intermittent absences to attend medical appointments.
  • Access to online or homebound education.
  • Changes in schedule or course sequence
  • Time extensions for coursework and rescheduling of tests and examinations
  • Allowing a student to sit or stand, or carry or keep water nearby
  • Counseling
  • Changes in physical space or supplies (for example, access to a larger desk or a footrest).
  • Elevator access.
  • Third Trimester Parking Permit for Students (contact Accessibility Services-acc@iwcc.edu)
  • A larger uniform or other required clothing or equipment.

Child Care Center

IWCC has an Early Childhood Education Center that provides care for infants-5 years old or when they begin Kindergarten.
Licensed by the State of Iowa and Accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs

  • 1 infant room up to 24 months
  • 1 Toddler room 2 years old
  • 2 preschool rooms mixed ages 3-5 years
  • Full day early childhood education option
  • 7am-5:30pm M-F year round
