Types of Financial Aid
There are three major types of financial aid available:
- Grants: Are awarded based on financial need and do not need to be repaid.
- Loans: Are awarded based on need and/or eligibility and must be repaid once the student does not attend college on at least a half-time basis. Federal Direct loans include subsidized, unsubsidized and parent plus loans.
- College Work Study: Is awarded based on need and requires work for paid wages.
Sources of Financial Aid include the State of Iowa, and the United States Federal Government. Applicants will receive an Award Notification that indicates their financial aid eligibility for all types of Financial Aid.
