CPR Training
Basic Life Support (BLS)
These courses are structured to meet the certification and training needs of those involved in healthcare, or those who plan to enroll in healthcare courses (nursing, physicians, dentistry, EMT or paramedic, CNAs, and others).
This course will include training on AED (Automated External Defibrillator), infant, child, and adult CPR, foreign body obstruction, and the use of bag-value mask devices for the healthcare provider.

Heartsaver Total - Adult/Child/Infant CPR/AED/First Aid
The Heartsaver Total course path of the Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Online course is taught in a blended learning format. Students must complete the online portion, followed by the hands-on skills session conducted by Iowa Western. Students who successfully complete the online course and skills session will receive a CPR/AED/First Aid Course Completion card, valid for two years.
This class is intended for anyone who is interested in learning or required to complete a CPR course. It will include Adult-Child-Infant (all ages) as well as CPR/AED/First Aid.
Basic Life Support Instructor Renewal
This course is for instructors who are currently aligned with Iowa Western or would like to become aligned with Iowa Western and need their instructor certification renewed. This course has paperwork that must be completed before class. The paperwork will be emailed upon registration completion.

This class will be for New BLS Instructors that are interested in aligning with IWCC.

1.You will need to have a current BLS provider card
2.Fill out the Instructor Candidate Application for each discipline to affiliate with an AHA Training Center.
3. Register at ATLAS using your personal email address to ensure continued access.
4. Successfully being monitored teaching within 6 months after completing the hands-on session of the Instructor Essentials
5. Course (Training Center Coordinators [TCCs] may require additional monitoring, if needed)
6. An instructor’s status can be renewed only by TF at the Instructor’s primary TC. Criteria for renewal varies based on discipline. Refer to the appropriate Instructor Manual for the discipline-specific Instructor renewal criteria.
Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner online, followed by a hands-on session. Successful blended learning can reach students with varying learning styles and in different environments. It combines the flexibility of online training with skills practice and testing for CPR and other psychomotor skills.
Hands-on sessions are conducted in person with an AHA Instructor or by using a Voice Assisted Manikin (VAM), where available. These skills sessions focus on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, discussions of local protocols, and skills testing.

This course is intended for those interested in becoming a CPR instructor. Check out AHA Instructor Requirements before registering for this course. Candidates interested in becoming an instructor must complete instructor paperwork and show their current BLS provider certification prior to registration.
