Court & State
Iowa Western Community College works with the local judicial districts to deliver court-mandated classes. These are classes that individuals are directed to attend by the courts.
Court-mandated courses include Diversion, DUI, Driver improvement, and RESTART.
RESTART Program-Eligibility
Eligibility for this program must be determined by the County Attorney’s Office prior to taking the class. The application on the County Attorney website must be completed. Classes must be completed during the month in which you are approved to take the traffic course.
Eligible to take courses:
- If you have NOT participated in the RESTART program in the last 12 months
- If you do NOT wish to contest your citation
- If you have valid driver license

Oct 1st-Oct 31st, 2025 Online Self-paced class
$75.00 plus, $55.00 court cost, plus $25.00 county cost total: $155.00
Our course is designed to improve a driver's skills, focusing on preventing accidents and responding safely to potential hazard on the road. The course includes both theoretical and practical elements, where participants techniques to reduce the risk of accidents and improve their ability to make safe decision while driving.
You will receive a separate email from the coordinator with instructions on how to access the online class.
October 24th & 25th, 2025 5pm-10pm & 8am-4:30pm
This class meets on Friday night from 5:00pm-10:00pm and Saturday from 8:00am-4:30pm. This class is for those that were arrested for an OWI over the age of 18. Class is designed to help each person reduce risk for any type of alcohol or drug problem by helping them understand and accept the need to make necessary changes to reduce the risk for future problems. The class meets state requirements under sections 321J.2 and 321J.17, Subsection 2, and is open to anyone wishing to better understand their problem. Students with limited English proficiency must provide their own interpreter.
Nov. 1st – Nov 30th, 2025 Online Self-Paced Class

Nov. 3rd 2025 9am-5pm in Looft Hall
The Iowa Driver Improvement (DIP) will examine attitudes and behavior in relation to driving. It will focus on teaching drivers how their behind the wheel attitude affects their driving behavior. Its purpose is to give participants an opportunity to reflect on their driving behavior and make a commitment to positively alter their daily driving experience. Please note, cancellations must follow IWCC Policy. If not followed, a rescheduling fee will be applied.
Nov. 5th & 6th, 2025 10am-4:30pm in Looft Hall
This class meets on Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-4:30pm. This class is for those that were arrested for an OWI over the age of 18. Class is designed to help each person reduce risk for any type of alcohol or drug problem by helping them understand and accept the need to make necessary changes to reduce the risk for future problems. The class meets state requirements under sections 321J.2 and 321J.17, Subsection 2, and is open to anyone wishing to better understand their problem. Students with limited English proficiency must provide their own interpreter.
Nov. 10th & 11th, 2025 9am-3pm both days
This class is for those that were arrested for an OWI over the age of 18. Class is designed to help each person reduce risk for any type of alcohol or drug problem by helping them understand and accept the need to make necessary changes to reduce the risk for future problems. The class meets state requirements under sections 321.J.2 and 321.J.17., Subsection 2, and is open to anyone wishing to better understand their problems. Students with limited English proficiency must provide their own interpreter. Fee $180.00 Room 111 at the IWCC Center in Shenandoah, IA.
