Driver's Education
Start your journey behind the wheel with Driver’s Education classes at Iowa Western Community College!
Our comprehensive driver’s ed program is designed for teens and new drivers seeking to earn their Iowa driver’s license. The course includes classroom instruction on traffic laws, road signs, and defensive driving techniques, along with behind-the-wheel training with certified instructors. With a focus on safety, responsibility, and real-world driving skills, Iowa Western’s driver’s education classes prepare students to become confident, capable drivers on the road.
Available Courses
Adults over the age of 18 years of age
This program requires a mandatory student orientation held one week prior to the start of class. Attendance at orientation is required to participate in the course.
The program includes both online classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel (BTW) training. The instructor will have detailed instructions on accessing the online coursework and scheduling driving sessions at orientation.
To successfully complete the course, students must:
• Meet all attendance requirements
• Pass the written examination
• Demonstrate proficiency during practical driving evaluations
Important Information:
After completing the online portion of the course, students have 45 days to complete six (6) behind-the-wheel driving sessions with the instructor.
