It is strongly recommended that students be able to read at a minimum of the 10th grade reading level, which is determined by the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems (CASAS) Reading assessment taken during orientation.

Students who score below 10th grade on a CASAS Reading assessment will be encouraged to participate in regular classroom instruction until a CASAS post-test shows a score of 10th grade or higher.

Students will also need to provide a valid photo identification, social security number, and current-email address to the Adult Education Center during orientation.
You will need a notebook, pen or pencil, and a great attitude. It is helpful for the morning classes and required for evening classes to also log 2 hours of online study hours each week.
In order to access our online English program, Burlington English, you will need the following:

*Computer/tablet/smart phone

Students are required to complete a minimum of 8 hours of study time each week, including class time, to maintain active status. If students do NOT show sufficient time in class and/or supplemental activity on Burlington English for a month, their Burlington English account will be deactivated.
